Achieves AS9102 Standards for Customer Applications
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 31, 2009--
Arrow Electronics Inc. (NYSE:ARW) now has the ability to perform First
Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102, the aerospace
standard that outlines the acceptable manner of documenting and
reporting the first item manufactured in a production run.
Arrow is fully compliant in AS9102 in its Nogales, Mexico, facility
where FAIs will be performed to help ensure consistency across the
aerospace, automotive, commercial air technology and other engineering
fields. At this time, FAIs will be performed on Amphenol connector
products assembled in Arrow’s Nogales facility, but will expand to
include other suppliers in the near future.
Customers can now avoid the extra time and resources needed to request
FAIs from suppliers and complete the process at the distributor level
resulting in a streamlined design process that gets customers to market
faster. Customers will also benefit from Arrow’s deep technical
understanding of manufacturing processes and first article inspection
requirements, as well as a full suite of value-added supply chain
services.
Arrow’s connector facility located in Nogales has more than 2,000
specialized assembly operations and houses over 14,000 components. The
facility is designed to provide efficient production, work-order
tracking, and comprehensive shipping of finished mil spec connectors.
