"Smartest" Design to Win New Smart Car
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 11, 2009--
Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) and Atmel®
Corporation (Nasdaq:
ATML), are launching the “Design Smarter with Atmel AVR®
Processors” design contest. Entrants can submit their embedded designs
using Atmel’s 8-bit AVR Flash Microcontroller for a chance to win a new
Smart Car and showcase their innovations at the Embedded Systems
Conference (ESC) Silicon Valley 2010.
The “Design Smarter with Atmel AVR Processors” contest runs now through
Oct. 30, 2009. Entries will be judged on designs that maximize the
benefits of the 8-bit AVR Flash Microcontroller, including high
performance and low-power consumption. Additional judging criteria
include uniqueness of application, usefulness, technical skill, design
complexity and cost efficiency. Bonus points will be awarded for designs
that incorporate touch-sensing functionality using Atmel’s family of
touch-sensing products.
The three elected winners will be flown to ESC Silicon Valley in April
2010 to present their designs to be considered for prizes.
Atmel’s AVR family of processors delivers performance with a single
architecture that works across a range of applications, including motor
control, USB connectivity and remote access control. When combined with
Arrow’s services and technical expertise, AVR processors can help
customers cost-effectively refine and improve their product offering and
bring products to market faster.
“We are excited to work with Arrow on inspiring the design community to
explore and create new designs using Atmel’s AVR,” said Alf Bogen, vice
president of corporate marketing at Atmel. “This is an excellent
opportunity for engineers to experience the industry’s best design
environment for 8-bit microcontroller-based solutions, supported by the
software and tools that will help them achieve success at work and
realize their wildest imagination. For engineers wishing to lower their
power consumption, design new and innovative touch-screen interface or
create an industry-leading application, Atmel's low-power,
high-performance AVR microcontrollers handle demanding 8-bit
applications on one single, easy-to-use, scalable platform.”
Entrants can register for the “Design Smarter with Atmel AVR Processors”
contest at www.arrownac.com/smart
and submit their designs.
“At Arrow, we look to partner with key suppliers like Atmel that offer
greater value and help our customers do their jobs quickly and
efficiently,” said Tyler Moore, director of embedded marketing for Arrow
Electronics. “AVR microcontrollers enable low-power designs and are very
simple to use. When matched with Atmel’s vast suite of hardware and
software development tools, they help customers get their products to
market fast and achieve their goals quickly.”
